In the British Army of 1775 there were 
70 Regiments of Foot 
and 3 regiments of Guards:

**The 71st was raised in 1776

In the spring of 1778 12 regiments were raised: 72-83rd

In the spring of 1779: 84th & 3 regts of Light Dragoons 19-21st

By fall of 1779: 85th-97th, and one of Light Dragoons(22nd)

By winter of 1780: 98-100th

1781: 101 &102nd
